‘Definitely up there’: Reece James says reported Arsenal target is so tough
England and Chelsea defender, Reece James, has said that Raheem Sterling is one of the ‘best wingers in the world’ ahead of the Euros.
The Three Lions open their campaign against Croatia on Sunday. Sterling and James could both play, albeit both have heavy competition.
Sterling, in particular, is fighting for his place. The emergence of the likes of Jack Grealish and Phil Foden has bumped him down the pecking order a bit.

At Manchester City, Sterling has also dropped from being one of the first on the team-sheet to often being an impact sub.
However, speaking to the , Chelsea man James says Sterling is still a class act. Indeed, he named him alongside Sadio Mane as his toughest opponents.
“Everyone knows how good a player Raheem Sterling is. It’s very hard playing against him,” James said.
“He’s probably one of the best wingers in the world at this moment in time and we’re going to need him for this tournament. Raheem Sterling is definitely up there (as the toughest) and I’d probably say (Sadio) Mane as well.”
As reported on TBR before, Sterling is said to be interesting Arsenal this summer. Pep Guardiola is set to overhaul his squad a bit at City, meaning Sterling is one who could be solved.
Reece James praises Raheem Sterling and rightly so…in a way
There is no way Sterling has been as good as he can be this season. Far from it, in fact.
But he is still a quality operator on his day and he has the pace to trouble even the very best defenders in the world. That’s why he’s so tough, and that’s why Gareth Southgate picks him.
It would be a surprise to see him start against Croatia. But from the bench, he is going to be one of the first options England turn towards.
