Reds legend John Aldridge implores Liverpool to re-sign Conor Coady
Liverpool legend John Aldridge has backed Liverpool to make a move for Wolves captain Conor Coady, amid their defensive shortage.
The 27-year-old departed Anfield back in 2014 to join Huddersfield Town, where he spent one season before transferring to the Black Country for a fee in the region of £2 million ().

That has proven a sensational bit of business from Wolves, with Coady playing a crucial role in the club’s promotion to the Premier League and back-to-back seventh placed finishes in the top-flight.
Coady’s name has been whispered on Merseyside in recent weeks following long-term injuries to Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.
And in the eyes of Aldridge, Liverpool should be looking to bring Coady back to Anfield having watched his rise at Molineux.
: “Liverpool have not made too many mistakes in the transfer market in recent years, but letting Coady leave the club has proved to be one of them.
“He’s a local lad, loves Liverpool and I remember when he was coming through the ranks that people were saying he could be the man to replace Jamie Carragher, as he was coming towards the end of his career.”

“He is now a part of the England international squad and while I’m sure he would walk back to Liverpool if an offer was put in for him, it’s hard to imagine Wolves selling such an important player.”
Aldridge goes on to brand Coady ‘a fine leader’.
TBR’s View – January deal practically impossible
While there will be a lot of Liverpool fans open to seeing Coady return, a January move is surely very unlikely.
‘Fine leaders’ don’t just jump ship in the middle of a season, and it’s very difficult to see Coady agitating for a move even if it is his boyhood club that’s calling.
The star – who was nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month award in October, is a committed and determined individual who surely won’t leave his current club in the lurch.
