‘Really sloppy’… Gary Neville left unimpressed after what Manchester United player did vs Luton Town

Gary Neville was left unimpressed with Manchester United defender Harry Maguire during today’s game at Luton Town.

Man United came flying out the blocks at Kenilworth Road as Rasmus Hojlund netted an early brace.

The Danish striker made the most of an early mistake from Amari’i Bell before a brilliant improvised finish just minutes later.

Yet, the Hatters grabbed one back in the 14th minute and after their goal against the run of play, United struggled to control the game.

Indeed, Luton boss Rob Edwards would have been wondering how his side headed into the break a goal down after a strong finish to the half.

And while United were struggling to get a grip of the game once again, Harry Maguire put his side under pressure with a wayward pass, which led to criticism from Gary Neville.

Neville unimpressed with Maguire

Maguire passed the ball straight to Ross Barkley from a free-kick on the edge of his own box in the 30th minute.

Raphael Varane snuffed out the danger by blocking Cauley Woodrow’s attempt but gave away a corner in the process.

And while speaking on ’ coverage of the game, Neville labelled Maguire’s passing as ‘really sloppy’.

“Harry Maguire gets away with one where [Amari’i] Bell didn’t at the other end,” Neville said.

“It’s really sloppy from United’s centre-back and he should get punished.”

Gabriel Osho actually had a chance to level the scoring from the corner but completely mistimed his header.

It’s fair to say that Maguire didn’t enjoy his best game as he was replaced at halftime by Jonny Evans.

The defender had picked up a booking in the first half and it was probably wise from Ten Hag to replace him. Casemiro also made way at the break after picking up a booking and United improved once again in the second period.

Ten Hag’s men could have had more than two on the day as Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes all wasted opportunities in the second half.

Yet, the Red Devils picked up their fourth win on the bounce after surviving a late scare as Ross Barkley rattled the crossbar right before the final whistle.
