‘Really quiet’: Klopp says one Arsenal player couldn’t do anything in the second half last night
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has claimed that Arsenal star Kieran Tierney was very quiet in the second half of the game last night.
The Reds closed the gap between themselves and Manchester City to just a point after their win at the Emirates.
It was by no means an easy result for Liverpool. They were made to work really hard by Arsenal, especially in the first half. But, in the end, their class showed.
Goals from Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino in the space of eight minutes sealed the game for the Reds. That killed the game for Arsenal, who, after conceding, couldn’t really do what they did so well in the first half.
Jurgen Klopp: We kept Kieran Tierney really quiet in the second half
Speaking to after the game, Klopp said: “Mo (Salah) was very lively and kept Tierney really quiet.
“Let me say it like this, he was not that adventurous anymore in the second half.
“He (Salah) helped Trent, who played an incredible game on the right side.
“Martinelli, we need one or two to defend and the game Robbo played, keeping Saka that calm, is very special, being on the other side. Sensational game.”

Kieran Tierney had a fair bit of joy on the left flank against Jurgen Klopp’s side in the first half last night. He combined well with Gabriel Martinelli and caused the Reds quite a few problems before the break.
However, in the second half, after Liverpool scored twice in quick succession, Arsenal lost their confidence.
It wasn’t just Tierney who was quiet, every player apart from Martinelli couldn’t do much, which is understandable after conceding two soft goals after working so hard until that point.
Arsenal take on Aston Villa next and that has now become a must-win game for Arteta and co.
