‘Really good play’… Jamie Carragher hails 24-year-old Aston Villa player v Arsenal
Aston Villa attacker Moussa Diaby earned praise from Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher in their Premier League meeting with Arsenal on Saturday.
In the 68th minute of the match, the 24-year-old Villans ace latched onto a long ball, beating William Saliba for pace before squaring for Ollie Watkins.
Although David Raya kept out and held the Villa striker’s powerful low effort, Carragher still liked and praised what he saw in the build-up.
“It’s really good play from Diaby,” Carragher said on (9/12/23, 18:56).
“He realises he can’t get the shot off, doesn’t do anything silly and tees up his team-mate.”

Diaby came on at half time for Leon Bailey, who picked up a knock around the 28-minute mark and wasn’t able to continue after the break.
The fact Villa can bring on a player like Diaby for Bailey just shows the tremendous strength in depth they have in some positions.
Aston Villa beat Arsenal to secure 15th home win in a row
The Villans took the lead against Arsenal after just seven minutes, hitting the ground running and getting their just rewards early on.
Bailey got the better of Gabriel Magalhaes and burst into the box before squaring the ball for John McGinn.
The Villa captain skilfully took the ball on the turn – which Jamie Carragher “absolutely fantastic” – before firing a finish past David Raya.
Cue wild celebrations among the home fans in the Villa Park stands, and there would be more of this as the Villans held out for all three points.
The Gunners managed to get the ball into the back of the Villa net late on, but it was disallowed for a Kai Havertz handball.
Villa have now won their last 15 home games and have overcome two main title challengers in the space of a week.
