‘Really good’…Micah Richards and Gary Lineker seriously impressed with £27m Tottenham player this weekend

Tottenham got over the line with ease against Aston Villa this weekend as they showed their credentials as a top four team.

Ange Postecoglou’s dominated from start to finish and came out 4-0 winners. A number of the top players for Spurs delivered on the day, with the attacking players getting their rewards.

Of course, one blot on the day was a potentially bad injury for Micky van de Ven. The Dutchman went off and was replaced by Radu Dragusin, the signing from Genoa in January.

But while Van de Ven has been the main man for Spurs this year, both Gary Lineker and Micah Richards were both impressed with how Dragusin performed off the bench.

Radu Dragusin impresses for Tottenham

Speaking on the podcast, both Lineker and Richards admitted they liked what they saw from the Romanian.

“I thought the new signing when he came on, Dragusin, I thought he did really well you know,” Lineker said.

“Yeah, they paid about £27m for him I believe. Sometimes it’s difficult coming into a system where you’re exposed to the high line. I think the old school defenders we like to sit deep, people in front of us, sort of communicate from the back and defend your box. They’ve got to do so much more now, on the ball, building up, track runners and defend the box. I thought he had a really good game. He can play a bit of midfield as well so yeah, really good addition for them,” Richards .

Key signing for Spurs

It was imperative that Tottenham added to the squad in January and imperative those players made an impact as well. And Tottenham are getting that from their new players.

Timo Werner got himself on the scoresheet this weekend. But the performance of Dragusin in defence coming on to replace Van de Ven was impressive.

Dragusin, if Van de Ven is going to be out, is going to be important and he showed at Villa that he can step in and do the business.
