‘Really good’… 19-year-old who Tottenham released back in 2019 is being compared to Christian Eriksen
Tottenham Hotspur may have been particularly disappointed when one young player left the club back in 2019 as he has now been compared with Christian Eriksen.
Omari Forson made his full debut for Manchester United at the weekend. Unfortunately, Forson had a difficult day before he was taken off in the 2-1 loss to Fulham. But he will be hoping that it is the first of many appearances for the club over the coming months.
Some at Tottenham Hotspur will have one eye on how the 19-year-old fares at Old Trafford. Forson left Spurs in 2019 to join Manchester United’s academy. The winger had previously left West Ham to join Tottenham.
Former Tottenham youngster Omari Forson compared with Christian Eriksen
It was seemingly a blow for Spurs when Forson decided that he wanted to leave the club. reports some within the Tottenham academy drew comparisons between him and Noni Madueke, who left North London in 2018 before returning to the capital in 2023 by signing for Chelsea.

But he was not the only player who had been on Tottenham’s books Forson was compared with. In comments reported by The Athletic, one source who knew the starlet at the time suggested that there were similarities with the player who actually replaced him at Old Trafford at the weekend.
“He is a really good lad; a London lad,” they said. “He was a great trainer and is obsessed with football.
“He has a bit of Christian Eriksen about him, where he has the creativity, but also a powerful side where he can carry the ball. He was a focused, determined and talented young lad.
“Omari was very confident and although he was young, and this is a reflection of his parents, he was respectful but he had an assurance and belief in himself — but the top players have lots of that.”
Spurs will have one eye on Manchester United youngster’s future
Of course, Forson was never going to be an immediate replacement for Eriksen at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after his departure in 2020. But there is no question that Spurs have had real issues moving on from the Dane.
It is perhaps only a problem that Tottenham have resolved this season, with the signing of James Maddison.
Forson meanwhile, is only just breaking into the Manchester United first-team. So it will be very interesting to see how his career develops over the coming years.
