‘Really close’… Albert Sambi Lokonga says he’s great friends with 24-year-old Arsenal player now

Albert Sambi Lokonga has now been discussing his relationship with one Arsenal player following a previous incident between the pair.

Lokonga, who is currently on loan at Luton Town, has been in the spotlight in recent weeks given his strong performances.

In fact, Jurgen Klopp was actually questioning Arsenal’s decision to let the midfielder leave in any description yesterday.

However, it’s clear that Mikel Arteta has plan for Lokonga, and perhaps the Belgian doesn’t have an Arsenal future beyond the season.

But his Arsenal future aside, Lokonga has now been discussing an incident that happened in the ‘All or Nothing’ documentary with teammate Eddie Nketiah.

In the documentary, Nketiah was questioning Lokonga for looking so glum because of his playing time, a clip that went viral.

And when speaking in an interview with , Lokonga has now provided some clarity and context to the clip.

At the time it was perceived as if Nketiah was almost putting Lokonga in his place, reminding him to stay humble, but the midfielder insists that wasn’t the case.

Lokonga pointed out that he and Nketiah were actually very close friends, even if he stands by his message of wanting to start football matches.

He said: “I would still have the same answer now. A player wants to be on the pitch, and if he’s not playing, he is not happy.

“The other thing was, me and Eddie, we are really, really close. If you look at it back, you can see I was even laughing at the end.

“I didn’t find it difficult but I didn’t like it. Eddie was looking like the guy who was working hard and I was looking like the guy who was not happy, blaming and moaning.

“Eddie is my friend. It‘s more of a thing on social media.”

Of course, Arsenal fans will probably be more concerned about Lokonga’s future right now, rather than an incident in the past.

If the Belgian doesn’t have a path back to the first team at Arsenal, then fans will surely be hoping the club can now achieve a better resale value given his strong form at Luton.

And that being said, Arteta could possibly then use those funds to make a transformative signing
