‘Really’: Alasdair Gold shares what he’s now hearing about Ryan Mason’s training sessions at Tottenham

Tottenham’s players are really enjoying Ryan Mason’s training sessions at the moment according to Alasdair Gold.

Speaking on the , the journalist was discussing Mason’s credentials when it comes to getting this job on a full-time basis, and the reporter claims that the squad are loving training under Mason.

Of course, there were a number of stories that the Spurs squad found training too intense under both Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho, but it sounds as though Mason has now found the right balance with this team.

Spurs finally enjoying training

Gold shared what he knows about Mason’s training sessions.

“He was 29 when he did it last time. He has a lot of confidence now in his own ability, he really has that alongside his authority. The players really like his training sessions, just as they did in 2021 as well. Antonio Conte on his first day at the club, he couldn’t work because of his work permit, and he was so impressed by Mason’s training sessions and the tactical depth of them, and he made a real case for him coming onto his coaching staff,” Gold said.

Makes a change

It makes a change to hear some positive reports coming out of Tottenham about training.

For years we’ve heard nothing but negativity. Mauricio Pochettino, Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho all had leaks emerging that the players didn’t like their training sessions, but within just a few weeks, Mason has got it right.

Maybe it’s down to the fact Mason only retired recently, but he seems to have a better grasp on how to run a training session for this group than some of the greatest managers in modern history.
