Real Sociedad are hoping to sign £40m Arsenal player

Arsenal have a big summer coming up.

The Gunners still have business to do in terms of getting new players through the door at the Emirates, while there are a few players who probably need a move this summer.

Indeed, the likes of Eddie Nketiah, Aaron Ramsdale and Emile Smith Rowe probably all need to go in order to get more gametime.

Interestingly, there’s also been plenty of speculation around Thomas Partey’s Arsenal future as of late.

The Ghanaian has spent a lot of this season on the sidelines suffering with injury, and there’s only so long Arsenal can carry a player like this.

Speaking on , Steve Kay has been discussing Partey’s future, and he says that he’s heard that Real Sociedad are among the interested parties in the midfielder.

Thomas Partey wanted by Real Sociedad

Kay shared what he knows about the midfielder.

“Last summer they nearly bought him (Zubimendi), but Arsenal have a really good relationship with Sociedad now. Kieran Tierney is out there and I’ve heard recently that Thomas Partey is someone they like. That’s a bit of a coincidence and when I heard that my ears pricked up given that Zubimendi plays for the same team and he and Partey play the same position,” Kay said.

Part-exchange deal?

As Kay says, this is a very interesting update.

It is a serious coincidence that Sociedad want to sign Partey at the same time Arsenal are showing such an interest in Martin Zubimendi.

Of course, swap deals in football are very rare, and it’s never as straightforward as it would seem from the outside looking in, but, on this are occasion, a part-exchange deal could work here for all parties.

This is certainly a situation to keep an eye on as Arsenal look to reshuffle the pack this summer to kick onto yet another level.
