‘Real moment of quality’: BT commentator very impressed by two Tottenham youngsters in U19 match today

was very impressed by Tottenham Hotspur youngsters Alfie Devine and Jamie Donley during an U19 match today.

Spurs took on Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Youth League at Hotspur Way. Tottenham’s U19 side got off to a brilliant start in the game as the talented Devine scored a first-half brace.

And for the 18-year-old’s opener, he and Donley earned high praise from Wilson on BT Sport.

BT commentator very impressed by Donley and Devine

Spurs scored a brilliant opening goal as they moved the ball up the pitch sharply in the 9th minute. 

Donley received the ball on the edge of the Frankfurt box and played a perfectly weighted pass to Devine. The former Wigan youngster then took the ball around the goalkeeper and finished calmly.

The goal left .

“Beautiful play from Spurs. Alfie Devine with a divine touch in front of goal,” he said.

“But you have to give the credit to the Tottenham number 10 (Donley) and inside 10 (minutes) Tottenham have the lead.

“A real moment of quality suddenly from the north London club. So much room to run in behind suddenly and the Frankfurt defence completely split open.

“It’s the weight of pass from the number 10, a little no-look on it as well perhaps.”

Spurs went into the break 2-0 up thanks to a brace from Devine. But their good work was completely undone within the first ten minutes of the second-half.

Frankfurt bounced back to score three goals and take the lead in north London.

Tottenham’s U19 team eventually fell to a 3-2 defeat but there are certainly positives to take after a brilliant first-half display.

Devine has already made a handful of first-team appearances for Spurs but looks to a bright talent for the future.

17-year-old Donley is yet to get his opportunity in Antonio Conte’s side but has impressed in the Premier League 2.

Both players will be hoping to continue to put in promising displays for the U19 side and earn their chance to impress Conte.
