Real Madrid ready to sell Newcastle target Eden Hazard in huge clear-out

Real Madrid may be nine points clear at the top of La Liga and into the Champions League quarter-finals, but that hasn’t stopped them making big plans for next season.

Los Blancos have their eyes fixed on unveiling a dream duo of Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland at the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer.

But in order for both of the superstars to join the Spanish giants, reports that it is ‘necessary to generate space in the squad, for which Madrid is preparing to try the departure of several players’.

Gareth Bale, Isco and Marcelo all look set to leave the club as free agents when their contracts expire at the end of June.

Alongside striker Mariano, Eden Hazard and Luka Jovic, who all have ‘high salaries that would generate significant savings’ are all expected to form part of Madrid’s overhaul in the summer.

Madrid signed the Belgian forward from Chelsea for a fee that could exceed £150m () nearly three years ago.

The move has been nothing short of a nightmare for both Hazard and Madrid. Handed the number seven shirt with the hope he could fill the void of Cristiano Ronaldo, the 31-year-old has scored just six goals across three seasons.

With a contract until 2024, Madrid may have to loan out the Belgian international with his injury record and eye-watering wages putting off potential suitors.

Reports claimed that both Arsenal and Newcastle want Hazard, who was was previously labelled an ‘‘ by Jamie Carragher.

According to , Everton have joined Arsenal in the race to sign Madrid outcast Jovic. Real Madrid paid to sign Jovic from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2019.

The 24-year-old has only scored goals in games for the Spanish giants, and Carlo Ancelotti has seemingly lost patience with Jovic and Hazard.

Unlike Hazard, Jovic has time on his side to rebuild his career and reputation. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see the pair playing their football in the Premier League next season.
