Real Betis reportedly considering Arsenal’s Willian as potential Joaquin replacement

La Liga outfit Real Betis are reportedly considering a move for Arsenal winger Willian next summer – if club legend Joaquin finally hangs up his boots.

that the 39-year-old Spanish winger may finally decide to call it a day next year having had two stints at the club (2000-2006 and 2015-present).

Betis officials are preparing for life after Joaquin, and Willian is supposedly on their radar.

The report describes Willian as an ‘intelligent’ and ‘versatile’ player, but acknowledges he hasn’t made the best of starts to his Gunners career.

Willian wowed on his debut for the club against Fulham, but has since struggled to make meaningful contributions.

A lot of criticism has gone his way for Arsenal’s lack of chances and goals, and it seems he has a lot of work to do to get supporters onside.

The consensus is that, he should be contributing a lot more considering he is supposedly on wages of £192,000-a-week ().

TBR’s View – Arsenal may struggle to offload Willian

Since the Brazilian signed a contract until 2023, Arsenal could struggle to offload Willian next summer if he didn’t want to leave.

It is highly unlikely Betis would be able to pay the player that kind of money, so the Gunners would have to bank of him taking a serious wage cut to get him off the books.

Of course, a lot can happen between now and next summer – there is every chance Willian could become a key player at the Emirates Stadium.
