Ray Parlour says Edu will now focus on signing for key position, suggests Arsenal 22-year-old isn’t ready
Ray Parlour believes that Arsenal technical director Edu will now be setting his sights on helping the Gunners sign a new centre-forward.
It’s been a busy window for signings at the north London club, including on Friday. Martin Odegaard and Aaron Ramsdale both completed permanent moves to the Emirates Stadium yesterday.
Parlour reckons that Edu’s focus will be on a new striker. In addition, he’s raised a concern over Eddie Nketiah.
Gunners youngster Nketiah, 22, is a part of the first-team squad.
The London-born forward has scored 13 goals in 65 appearances for them and is currently sidelined with an ankle injury.
However, Parlour is doubting whether he’s ready to be a key player yet in the Arsenal team.
“The last piece Edu will look at is a goalscorer, a number nine,” Parlour told .
“Nketiah, is he really good enough yet? Probably not. He can get better. That’s the place I’d be looking now is at striker from Arsenal’s point of view.”

Edu under real scrutiny from Arsenal fans
Edu, who plays a role in the club’s recruitment policy, is not a fan favourite right now.
There can be no questioning the club have released transfer funds to spend this summer, but there are doubts over some of the new faces.
They have decided to go down the route of talented young players and they’ll be hoping they can mature quickly to make a big impact at the Emirates Stadium.
It remain to be seen what kind of window they’ve had, but Edu still has time to win over worried fans during the remainder of it.
It’s a fair point that bringing in a striker should be next on his list.
