But in doing so, he has lost his faith in youth. Rarely, do youngsters come in to the side at the moment with Arteta playing the same players every week. Youngsters have little chance of a senior breakthrough.

Prior to qualification for the Champions League, Arteta did use some youngsters and one of those was Charlie Patino. The 20-year-old played twice for Arteta, even scoring in a 3-1 win over Sunderland.

For 2022-23, he was sent to Blackpool on loan and impressed in a side that were eventually relegated, having a hand in seven goals. This season, he has been on loan at Swansea City – certainly, a step up.

What Ray Parlour has said about Charlie Patino’s Arsenal future

This term, he has eight goals and assists from midfield. With Arsenal presenting little chance of Patino getting game time at this moment in time, his future will be under the microscope come the summer.

“There is nothing wrong with signing for Swansea and I could see this happening. It can be a good move. Playing week in week out is key at his age and this can be a stepping stone to the Premier League.

“This can be a good move for him. I do suspect quite a few clubs will be interested, but it’s so important he chooses the right set-up for him. He is a super talent with a good football brain,” Parlour claimed.

Mikel Arteta has green-lighted an exit for Patino this summer

Reports claim that Arteta has given the green light for Patino to leave Arsenal in the summer on a permanent basis. Indeed, it was claimed he would be unlikely to sign a new deal at The Emirates.

Swansea are unlikely to be the only club interested in Patino, with the playmaker impressing in the Championship at Swansea and Blackpool. On a permanent basis, there is likely to be a number of clubs.

Certainly, at Championship level and possibly, lower end of the Premier League. It is unclear how much Arsenal would accept for Patino in the next months, but it is likely to cost a pretty solid fee to do a deal.
