Raul Jimenez is a big upgrade on Leo Bonatini for Wolves

Wolverhampton Wanderers are on the verge of completing a deal for Mexican striker Raul Jimenez, according to numerous reports this weekend. that a season-long loan deal is being put forward for the 27-year-old, with an option to buy him for £30 million at the end of the season.

It is a positive move from Wolves, who look to bring in a new striker to help them in their return to the Premier League.

The arrival of the 27-year-old should excite Wolves fans. However, it seems to spell the end of the road for one of the players who helped Wolves win promotion.

Leo Bonatini spent last season on loan at Wolves from Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia. The Brazilian looked to be an incredible recruit judging by his early form.

By the end of December, the striker had scored an impressive 12 goals and Wolves rocketed to the top of the Championship table. The club had the option to sign him for just £5 million but he had a dramatic dip in form in the New Year. His last 25 games for the club saw him fail to score and it was soon being reported that Wolves would not be signing him on a permanent deal.

Wolves are now making the right move moving on to a different striker target. Jimenez is undoubtedly an upgrade on the Brazilian, who simply tailed off in 2018.

Wolves will now be hoping Jimenez can have a similar impact that Bonatini had when he first joined, but then carry it through until the end of the season.
