‘Rather he stayed’: Some Newcastle fans react to Luton Town interest in Anderson
Some Newcastle United fans have been reacting on social media to reports by that Luton Town are interested in a potential loan deal for Elliot Anderson.
The Championship side were blocked from signing the midfielder during the January transfer window as Steve Bruce felt he could offer a path to the first-team at St. James’ Park.
But chances for the 18-year-old to feature have been non-existent as the Magpies fight for their Premier League survival, while also frequently omitted from the Toon’s junior sides.

Anderson has only played Premier League 2 fixtures, and has only been given of top-flight action following his in January’s FA Cup third-round defeat to Arsenal as a late substitute.
Luton are expected to pursue a loan deal for Anderson once again in the summer market as boss Nathan Jones believes the Whitley Bay-born playmaker can help the Hatters mount a potential play-off push, following a likely top-half finish this term.
Anderson was unable to influence the scoring during either of his brief senior outings, but has contributed across all youth competitions this season and captained the Magpies’ junior sides on three occasions.
Luton built on their finish in the Championship last term to enter the final weekend of the current campaign , but boast one of the division’s lowest-scoring offences with just five of the 24 clubs netting fewer.
Here’s how these Newcastle fans reacted to Luton’s reported interest in another pursuit of Anderson this summer…
Perfect place to send him

Be a good move for him. Luton have done well (for their expectations) this season, but I’m sure he’d still get regular game time there
— Callum Irving (@NUFCIrving1010)
He needs to play as much football as possible so a loan is a must for me
We need to make sure we loan him to a club that can give assurances over playing time

If we’re not gonna spend real money he should be in the team!
— P4BL0 (@PGNUFC84)
He’s ready for first team, even if it’s as a sub, let him develop WITH us
— MI ⚫️⚪️ (@Nosivi12)
Shouldn’t have blocked it in Jan, same as Matty.. both have been left to rot for the 2nd half of this season by Mr man manager 🤯
— MAX TOON (@MAX_TOON_1892)
I’d rather he stayed and played tbh (under a decent coach anyway). Hope we don’t make the usual mistakes, loan them out, they do well, they come back, they play 5 mins here and then which isn’t enough and then we get rid.

Rather have him instead of shelvey.
— Jari (@jarisal9)
Give the lad the chance he deserves. Can’t be worse than joelinton
— Rookster (@alirook)
Would be a great loan move for him this
