Rasmus Hojlund reveals change Ruben Amorim has made at Man Utd that he’s not sure he’s supposed to talk about
Ruben Amorim has had a shaky start to life as Manchester United manager to say the least.
Manchester United have, largely, been uninspiring under Amorim, and when the big moments have come, they’ve often been via, somewhat underserved, late winners against the likes of Manchester City, Rangers and Leicester City.
Ruben Amorim isn’t having the desired impact at United in terms of results on the pitch, but he is desperately trying to enact change behind the scenes.
Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |

Indeed, Amorim has changed United’s system as he implements his 3-4-3 style, and according to Rasmus Hojlund, speaking to Sky Sports, the manager has also made another minor change in training.

Ruben Amorim has changed timings at Manchester United
Hojlund was asked to describe Amorim in just one word by Sky Sports, and he chose ‘passion’.
As a follow-up question, Hojlund was asked what Amorim has changed at United, and he says that the gaffer has actually changed the start time in the morning.
Indeed, Amorim has now changed the start of the day to be 45 minutes later, giving his players that bit of extra time to prepare in the morning.
“Next up, Ruben Amorim?” Hojlund was asked.
“Passion,” Hojlund wrote.
“Passion? Go on,” Hojlund was asked.
“Yeah, he’s very passionate. You can feel the hunger and the determination inside of him. Everything he does is detailed, and you can see that he really wants this to work,” The striker said.
“What has he changed since he’s been there?” Hojlund was asked.
“I don’t know if I can say this, but he moved the report time 45 minutes later, so he gives us a little bit more sleep in the morning, which is nice,” Hojlund said.
Lateness problems at Manchester United
Amorim changing the start time of United training isn’t a bad idea at all. After all, there was a lot of lateness issues under previous regimes.
Indeed, Phil Jones says Anthony Martial was always late for training, while Nemanja Matic singled out Paul Pogba and Jadon Sancho for often being late, via .
“At Chelsea, players acted professionally, they were punctual and were never late for training but at United it happened almost every day. Among the players who would always be late were Paul Pogba and Jadon Sancho and couple of other players,” Matic said.
Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford was dropped for a game last season for turning up late.
Players with lateness issues at Manchester United | What happened? |
---|---|
Anthony Martial | Accused of always being late by Phil Jones |
Paul Pogba | Accused of being late by Nemanja Matic |
Jadon Sancho | Accused of being late by Nemanja Matic |
Marcus Rashford | Dropped for Wolves game for turning up late |
That extra 45 minutes in the morning will give players a bit more time to get ready, and, ultimately, it gives even less of an excuse for any players to be late.
We’re yet to hear of any problems with lateness and poor timekeeping, and it would appear Amorim isn’t standing for any players who have questionable attitudes.
Marcus Rashford’s attitude was questioned a lot last season, and Amorim got rid of the attacker at the first possible opportunity.
Amorim isn’t getting results at United so far, but he’ll be hoping that these minor changes behind the scenes help his team improve on the pitch.
