Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips message Leif Davis after Leeds exit

Both Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha took to message Leif Davis and wish him well after it was announced that the young left-back has left Leeds United to join Ipswich Town.

Davis’ departure from Elland Road seemed to come around quite quickly. Of course, before the summer, it seemed that the 22-year-old was unlikely to have a future at the club.

He left on loan last summer, with Bournemouth having an option to buy. However, he was unable to convince the Cherries to sign him permanently. And with that, it seemed unlikely that he would return to the fold at Leeds.

However, Jesse Marsch did take Davis on the pre-season tour to Australia. And with Junior Firpo sustaining an injury before the trip, Davis had a brilliant opportunity to force his way back into the plans.

And he played fairly well down under. But it seems that Leeds are planning to go down a different route. And it was announced on Monday that he had joined Ipswich on a permanent deal.

Davis has never quite managed to secure a run in the side. But he did do well whenever he got an opportunity for Leeds. And it certainly seems that he was a popular member of the squad.

The youngster took to Instagram to say goodbye to Leeds and wish the club success. And in response, a raft of current and former players responded with messages of support for Davis.

Cult heroes such as Gaetano Berardi and Gjanni Alioski replied, as did the likes of Liam Cooper and Mateusz Klich. But there were also replies from the likes of Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips.

The pair left for new challenges earlier in the window. But they both sent Davis a message as he prepares for the next step in his own career…
