Rangers urged to check out playmaker with 15 goal contributions this season who’ll ‘only get better’
Glasgow Rangers icon Barry Ferguson says he’d love to see nephew Lewis Ferguson play for the Ibrox outfit, also suggesting Steven Gerrard will “100 percent” look to strengthen his midfield.
Lewis, like uncle Barry and father Derek, used to be on Rangers’ books, but while the latter two enjoyed illustrious careers at Ibrox, the former was released by the Gers in 2013 and went on to join Hamilton.
The 21-year-old broke into the Accies first team in 2017 and was on the move to Aberdeen a year later, where his career has gone from strength to strength as one of the first names on Derek McInnes’ team sheet.

To date, Lewis has made 122 appearances for the Dons, registering 21 goals and 22 assists, and this season, he has featured 39 times, with under his belt.
Alex Rae wrote in the last year: “Rangers are strong in midfield, I’m not sure if Lewis would step straight into the team if he was signed right now.
“But if you wait for a few years then there’s a real possibility that you won’t be able to afford him. He’ll only get better.”
Barry admits he’d be delighted to see another Ferguson plying his trade for Gers, although he acknowledges he’s still a work in progress.
“I don’t mind seeing him there of course,” he told . “I still think he has got a lot of improvements to do, Lewis.
“Over the last couple of years he has matured and he has got an old head on young shoulders.
“He is willing to work really hard in his game but I’d love to see him at Rangers, of course, I would.
“That is one area of the Rangers team that Steven Gerrard will 100 percent look to strengthen.”
