Rangers transfer news: Report shares what Gers have told club chasing 23-year-old star as a top target

Rangers may be about to surprise some of their supporters, that the Gers are ready to snub a potential six-figure transfer offer to keep one of their fringe players at Ibrox this summer.

George Edmundson has had an interesting time with the Gers. The 23-year-old has only made 17 appearances for the Light Blues in all competitions.

At times, he has looked colossal. Few will forget his outstanding display in Braga last February.

However, he left Rangers on loan in January having served a suspension earlier that season following a breach in the regulations.

His time at Derby ended on a high as the Rams stayed in the Championship. But some may have had their doubts about whether the Englishman had done enough to impress Steven Gerrard.

Rangers are strong at centre-back. Edmundson could potentially be battling four teammates should he find himself at Ibrox next year.

Nevertheless, it appears that the Gers are indeed planning to keep the youngster beyond this summer.

, Rangers have told Peterborough United that Edmundson is not for sale.

It is noted that the Posh are prepared to pay a six-figure fee to land Edmundson. But as things stand, he will not be leaving.

Derby remain admirers of their former loanee. But the Rams , so a return to Pride Park may have been unlikely anyway.

Can Rangers fans get excited with Gerrard prepared to snub Edmundson bid in transfer window?

It is a surprise to see Rangers potentially snub a six-figure offer for Edmundson.

As already mentioned, the Gers boast plenty of depth at the back. So many would surely be tempted to accept a significant offer for the defender.

That may be a sign that Gerrard remains excited about Edmundson’s potential.

Rangers fans have seen how good he can be. Perhaps the Gers boss is optimistic that his Braga display is still a sign of what is to come.
