Rangers transfer boost: Van Bronckhorst target ‘more than likely’ to leave club

Rangers have received a transfer boost in their reported pursuit of PSG wonderkid Xavi Simons. Giovanni van Bronckhorst is keen on luring Simons to Rangers – and now, he looks set to leave PSG.

Simons, 18, has only managed two senior appearances for PSG since his move to the French capital from Barcelona aged just 16. This season, he is yet to play a single minute, appearing on the bench only twice.

That is, despite some stunning form in the UEFA Youth League – in which he has had a hand in nine goals during six games. The Netherlands Under-19 star has scored three goals, and laid on six more assists.

report that Rangers and Manchester City are going head to head to sign Simons – with the youngster’s contract due to expire in June. Now, Rangers and City have just received a boost.

that Simons is now ‘more than likely’ to leave PSG – albeit permanently, at the end of the season. The player is said to be keen on leaving PSG in search of regular football.

Rangers get Simons boost: Can van Bronckhorst tempt PSG wonderkid?

Rangers would be pulling off a major coup by adding Simons to their side. What they must be open to, though, is that a move to Rangers is only going to be a stepping stone for a bigger move in years to come.

Van Bronckhorst could do with him right away, and a potential loan in January until the end of the season would suit Rangers. It would give the Gers the best chance of convincing Simons to stay permanently, on a free.
