Rangers target Kieran Dowell has already made a Celtic player look foolish this season

Rangers are hopeful of bringing Everton loanee Kieran Dowell to Ibrox.

The 21-year-old England youth star is considered a top talent at Everton but first-team opportunities are hard to come by. Steven Gerrard is therefore hopeful of bringing him to Glasgow to help them in their hunt for silverware this season.

Of course, not many Rangers fans will know a lot about the England under-21 talent.

However, one man who will is the Celtic goalkeeper Ross Doohan. Currently on loan at Ayr United, the 20-year-old was preferred to Rangers’ own Robby McCrorie for an under-21 clash for Scotland against England in October.

England won the game with two stunning goals. First, Reiss Nelson fired home a wicked free-kick. The second goal came from Dowell.

In the 90th minute, the Everton man picked up the ball on the edge of the box, took on one man and curled a beautiful left-foot strike beyond Doohan. The Celtic owned stopper was planted to the spot and could only watch as the ball sailed into the top corner.

Rangers fans will no doubt hope to see him making Celtic keepers look foolish again if Gerrard can bring him to Ibrox in January.
