Rangers star tells Nottingham Forest man Joe Worrall he will be missed

Joe Worrall is set to return to Nottingham Forest after Rangers finished their 2018-19 campaign with a 2-1 defeat to Kilmarnock at Rugby Park – and a Rangers teammate believes Worrall will be missed.

Worrall, 22, has been somewhat indifferent this season for Steven Gerrard’s side. He has impressed in many games, and was considered first choice for a large chunk of the season alongside Connor Goldson.

But in the last few weeks, Worrall has been dropped and replaced by Croatian colossus Nikola Katic at centre-back. All in all, Worrall made 31 appearances for Rangers – helping Gerrard’s men keep 13 clean sheets.

Ross McCrorie posted on Instagram after the season ended, and Worrall replied with a heart. It saw McCrorie inform the Nottingham Forest defender that “he will be missed”, as he returns to the City Ground.

TBR’s view

Worrall is a good defender, but he certainly has plenty of mistakes in him. Multiple lapses in concentration has seen the England youth international guilty for the concession of needless goals.

A permanent deal for Worrall does not look on the cards, but Rangers will realise that their money would be better spent elsewhere on a centre-back that is not so error-prone.

It remains to be seen if Worrall has any kind of future at Forest under Martin O’Neill, with Forest signing Yohan Benalouane and Alexander Milošević in the January window.
