Rangers star responds when asked if Steven Gerrard is going to Aston Villa

Reports claim Steven Gerrard is closing in on a move to Aston Villa from Rangers – and James Tavernier has responded to a fan on Twitch.

that Premier League side Aston Villa are closing in on Gerrard. The 41-year-old has been spotted in London, getting off a train.

It is believed that Villa expect to announce the addition of Gerrard as manager this week. That is, despite Rangers currently sitting top.

It would see Gerrard leave his first role in management, in which has starred. Clocking up 193 games, he won last season’s Scottish title.

Asked on Twitch while playing with Ryan Jack and Andy Firth, skipper Tavernier responded to a fan – stating he does not know anything.

“I have no idea what is happening. I am just reading what you are reading or hearing what you are hearing,”

Tavernier discusses Gerrard: Could he really swap Rangers for Villa?

The debate is, that Gerrard will eventually want to manage Liverpool. Does he need to join a club that basically acts as a stepping stone?

Or does he simply go from Rangers to Liverpool – with the Ibrox club and his time in Glasgow being enough to show he can cope with Reds pressure?

Frank Lampard going straight into the job at Chelsea, from Derby County, was proof that perhaps Gerrard needs Premier League experience, first.

A move to Aston Villa is big. They have cash, Villa are a massive club and have a squad capable of a top-half finish. Gerrard needs to take the risk.
