Rangers are set to allow a number of first team players to depart Ibrox Stadium this summer. Steven Gerrard has taken great strides to overhaul the Glasgow club’s playing squad since his appointment as manager last summer. He made many signings ahead of his first campaign in the hot seat, and has been busy so far this summer too.
In this current transfer window, the likes of Filip Helander, George Edmundson and Sheyi Ojo, amongst others, have arrived to swell the ranks. However, Gerrard must now turn his attention towards trimming the fat in his squad. There are a number of players who the ex-England man may consider surplus to requirements.

The likes of Kyle Lafferty, Jason Holt and Graham Dorrans, amongst others, are unlikely to be in Gerrard’s plans for the new season. As quoted by the , the Gers boss is open to moving a number of players on this summer. The manager said, “in terms of outgoings…I predict there will be players going the other way”.
However, instigating such an exodus may not be simple. As Gerrard himself admitted, “it depends on what the players want. I can’t really control whether they want to stay here or find themselves a different challenge. That’s up to the players.”
The iconic former Liverpool midfielder will be keen to raise some funds through player sales. Therefore, he’ll likely be doing all he can to provide suitable exit plans for those who he has no place for in his squad.
