Steven Davis transfer edges closer

Steven Davis’ move from Southampton to Rangers appears to have taken a step closer to completion.

, the Northern Ireland international has spoken to Rangers defender Gareth McAuley and he wants to complete an imminent switch.

Southampton are willing to let the veteran midfielder leave on a free but his £60k-per-week wages are the main stumbling block.

But Davis, who turns 34 tomorrow, wants to return to Ibrox and sign a two-year deal.

Ryan Kent has admitted that he would consider joining Rangers on a permanent basis, .

The 22-year-old is on loan from Liverpool and he has become a fan favourite at Ibrox for his exciting displays.

He set up the winning goal in the Old Firm derby victory over Celtic to add to his growing reputation.

When quizzed about a permanent move, : “It’s something I’m considering.

“It’s a chat Rangers are going to have to have with Liverpool because I still have three years left on my contract there. So it’s a bit out of my hands.”

Fulham’s Kevin McDonald targeted

Fulham midfielder Kevin McDonald is the latest midfielder to be linked with a move to Rangers.

, Rangers could swoop for the 30-year-old as an alternative to Davis.

The Scottish defensive midfielder is a bit-part player at Fulham and the Premier League side are willing to let him leave permanently or on loan.
