Rangers are now keen to sign a player who Chelsea offloaded back in June 2021.
Philippe Clement’s side have just agreed a deal to sign Robin Propper from FC Twente in a deal said to be worth several millions of pounds – according to .
Now, those at Ibrox are trying to bring another Dutchman to Rangers…
Rangers want Marco van Ginkel
A story from now claims that Rangers want to bring Marco van Ginkel to Ibrox along with Propper.
The Netherlands international – who Chelsea sold to PSV Eindhoven in 2021 – is currently a free agent after his contract with Vitesse Arnhem expired on July 1st.
Clement and Nils Koppen – Director of Football at Ibrox – have been monitoring Van Ginkel’s situation this summer ahead of a potential move to Glasgow, and the pair now seem ready to make the Dutchman an offer.

The 31-year-old would bring leadership qualities to Ibrox if a deal can be agreed, having captained Vitesse Arnhem for the majority of last season.
Interestingly, the aforementioned Propper is also captain of FC Twente – so it seems Clement want to pack his squad full of leaders this summer as he aims to beat Celtic to the Scottish Premiership title next season.
Free transfer feels like a no brainer for Philippe Clement
The chance to sign an experienced Netherlands international for free – one who is also captain material – seems too good for Rangers to ignore.
Van Ginkel has proven himself as a goalscoring threat from midfield – something Clement needs at Ibrox – with seven goals in 30 Eredivisie appearances last season.
The man from Amersfoort also netted goals in 118 appearances while playing for PSV Eindhoven, which roughly equates to a goal every three games, which is a fine record for a central midfielder.

With all things considered, Rangers would be foolish not to at least offer Van Ginkel a short-term deal.
