the signing of Filip Helander from Bologna.
The defender has moved for a fee in the region of £3.5 million () and become Steven Gerrard’s eighth addition of the summer.
The 6ft 4in colossus made 64 appearances in the Italian top-flight, scoring one goal.

On what drew him to Ibrox, Helander said: “The opportunity to work with a manager like Steven Gerrard was an easy decision to make.”
There is a fair bit of hype around Helander’s transfer given the outlay, with fans hoping he is able to tighten things up at the back.
Rangers finished last term as the Premiership’s top scorers, but they conceded seven more than champions Celtic.
One man who is predicting Helander to shine in Scotland is his former manager and Italian legend Roberto Donadoni.

The ex-AC Milan star : “I’m sure Filip will do very well in Scotland. Having been his coach for two seasons at Bologna, I can say without fear of contradiction that he is a truly exceptional boy.
“He is very serious about being a footballer, an exemplary professional who always aims to improve. Filip is one of those players all coaches would like to have in their team. Certainly I would.”
TBR’s view
Donadoni’s comments are sure to excite Rangers fans.
It sounds very much as though the Light Blues have secured themselves a top player.

Helander could well be the man to help Rangers bridge the gap between themselves and Celtic.
His presence at the back could be the thing that helps the Gers keep more clean sheets, meaning the work of the attackers can count for much more in 2019/20.
