Former Rangers star Robert Prytz has claimed the club’s new signing Filip Helander is a ‘carbon copy’ of former Celtic ace Virgil van Dijk.
The Swedish ace arrived at the club last week after completing a £3.5 million move from Bologna () to great fanfare.
Big things are expected of the 6ft 4in star, and his compatriot Prytz is particularly excited to see how he fares.
The star, who signed for Rangers in 1982 from Malmo and spent a few seasons at Ibrox, said (): “He’d fallen out of the Bologna team in the second half of last season but he’s a good ball-playing central defender.
“He got moved there as he’s very much a modern-day footballer who likes to build play from the back. He doesn’t just whack it 60 yards up the field.
“He’s more like Virgil van Dijk in the way he wants to pass the ball – but he’s strong and tall enough to dominate if his team is defending.”

Rangers fans will surely be delighted to hear their new signing being likened to £180,000-a-week ace van Dijk ().
Obviously van Dijk is an elite centre-half now, but it is surely encouraging for Light Blues supporters to hear that Helander has similar traits at least.
van Dijk spent a couple of seasons at Celtic before earning a move to Premier League side Southampton, and Rangers fans might be hoping to see him have a similar sort of impact from colossus Helander at Ibrox.
