It is no secret that Steven Gerrard wants to add a central midfielder to his Rangers squad in January.
And this seems to have alerted Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam, who is angling for a return to Ibrox.
, Adam is keen on a return to Rangers on loan in January.
On paper, this move makes sense. Rangers need a new central midfielder, Adam knows Gerrard well from their time together at Liverpool and the midfielder could return to his first professional club.
He would also be a cheap option on a loan deal, presumably with an option to buy.
Adam spent six years with Rangers between 2003 and 2009, making nearly 100 appearances for the club.
He then moved down to England, where he has played for Blackpool, Liverpool and Stoke.

But the 32-year-old midfielder is out of favour at Championship side Stoke and his career is spiralling downhill at a rapid rate.
The 26-cap ex-Scotland international has only managed three substitute appearances for the Potters this season.
His legs have gone and his best years are behind him. Rangers would be making a mistake by bringing him in.
Gerrard is building an exciting young squad and Adam just doesn’t fit into the mould of midfielder Gerrard is looking for.
Despite his come-and-get-me plea, Rangers would be better off avoiding Adam in January.
