‘Away again’: Rangers fans react as cup draw throws up Livingston trip

Rangers defeated East Fife yesterday to reach the quarter-finals of the Scottish League Cup. The Gers ran out 3-0 winners courtesy of goals from Jermain Defoe, Filip Helander and Joe Aribo.

Boss Steven Gerrard will be delighted with the victory and in reaching the last eight he edges closer to securing silverware for the Ibrox-based club.

It is fair to suggest that the Rangers supporters aren’t overly fussed with the tie. Or rather the synthetic surface at Livingston hasn’t exactly got the Gers excited for their quarter-final.

It is three years since the Gers locked horns with their cup opponents. They returned to the Premiership last season after promotion from the Championship.

Back in 2016 when the two sides last met, the Lions ran out 1-0 winners over the Gers, much to the dismay of the club’s supporters.

Revenge might be on their minds this year when the clubs meet, but the ultimate objective will be to take a step closer towards some badly needed silverware.
