Supporters react to disappointing Northern Ireland performance from Rangers striker Kyle Lafferty

Northern Ireland maintained a 100% start to their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign by beating Belarus 2-1 at Windsor Park.

It followed up Friday’s 2-0 win over Estonia and gives the Green and Whites a solid platform to build on during the campaign.

His selection has perhaps come as a surprise given that he hasn’t played a great deal of football at Rangers this season.

He is clearly trusted by O’Neill on the international stage, however, and claimed an assist against Estonia.

The 31-year-old showed an element of ring-rust in his performances and that isn’t a surprise.

Lafferty has started just seven league games this season for Steven Gerrard.

He has fallen way down the pecking order at Ibrox behind Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe.

O’Neill clearly still fancies him to do a job for Ireland though and chose to start him in both games.

His performance against the Belarussians yesterday was nothing short of shocking.

Belarus’ equalising goal came when Lafferty ducked out of the way of a header allowing the ball to finish in the net.

After such an abject display, supporters took to Twitter.
