Rangers reportedly still in discussions regarding speedster

Rangers look set to revive their interest in Motherwell winger Jake Hastie this summer,

The 21-year-old has been in fine form this season netting 11 goals and contributing seven assists from 40 appearances.

Gers boss Steven Gerrard will look to strengthen his squad in the summer as he attempts to be even more competitive with Celtic next season.

Hastie has pace to burn, the eye for a pass and is capable of scoring from all over the pitch. Rangers are keen to add more attacking options to their ranks and Hastie ticks all the boxes.

that talks had broken down last month between the two parties and it was feared a deal could be dead. That doesn’t look to be the case though, with Gerrard apparently still keen to do something.

It could take up to £2 million to land the youngster, , although at this stage the actual fee is unclear.

TBR Verdict

Hastie is clearly a talented boy who could go on to do big things. There is an argument that he perhaps isn’t what Rangers need, however.

Ryan Kent is still sought after by Gerrard and he certainly possesses more quality than Hastie.

Considering they both play in the same position, it asks the question as to whether the Rangers boss could be ready to admit defeat in the quest to keep Kent.

Of course, it could just be that Gerrard wants to ensure he has adequate cover out wide and wants to tie down Hastie ahead of his best years.

Likewise, Hastie has shown in the past that he can play in numerous attacking positions. That could lead to Gerrard unleashing Kent and Hastie in the same team.

Whilst he wouldn’t represent a bad signing, the club’s supporters will certainly hope to see some quality, stellar recruits added during the summer too.
