A recent report claimed that Rangers are interested in bringing Kenny McLean to Ibrox during the January transfer window.
, the Gers want the 28-year-old. And it was suggested that Steven Gerrard was open to trying to take the midfielder on loan with an obligation to buy, or on a permanent deal in which Rangers pay in instalments.

In truth, it already appeared that the Light Blues may find it difficult to get a move done. Norwich held onto the majority of their key men over the summer.
So it seemed unlikely that Daniel Farke’s side would be prepared to sanction his exit unless a considerable offer was made.

Now however, it appears that the chances of Rangers signing McLean may have become even bleaker.
that McLean has sustained a knee injury. Should he not need surgery, he could be back within six weeks.
However, if he does need to go under the knife, he could be out for up to five months. That would rule McLean out for the large majority of the season.
And thus, making a move before the summer could be almost pointless.
Even if he does return in six weeks, he will be coming back into the fold while the January window is open. That may therefore, make it something of a gamble for Rangers to pursue him in the same month.
It already seemed that Rangers were facing an uphill battle trying to recruit McLean ahead of the second-half of the season.
Unfortunately, any remaining hopes may now have been dashed.
