Glasgow Rangers FC’s hunt to find a replacement for Giovanni van Bronckhorst continues and a new name has been linked with the Ibrox hot seat now – Ralph Hasenhuttl.
Rangers parted ways with Van Bronckhorst earlier this week. He leaves Ibrox just over a year after taking charge of the club, and the Gers have to get their next appointment right.
Rangers have Ralph Hasenhuttl on their manager shortlist
It has been widely reported that Queens Park Rangers boss Michael Beale is Rangers’ top choice to become their new manager. The 42-year-old has made a good name for himself at Loftus Road, and he’d be a fine appointment.
However, Rangers have other names on the list too – in case their move for Beale collapses.
Football journalist Dean Jones has revealed that Hasenhuttl, Scott Parker and Swiss coach Gerardo Seoane are also on their shortlist at this moment in time.
The journalist told : “The only other name I’ve heard really on the back of that is Gerardo Seoane, who’s somebody that they’re interested in. But Hasenhuttl too, and Scott Parker is actually one that I’ve heard.
“So, they’re all quite different managers, and maybe it’s just Rangers trying to have varying degrees of expectation.
“They’ll aim high, that’ll probably be Michael Beale, and then the others will fall into place, and you’ll start to see who best fits the profile in terms of one getting the fans on board but also getting these players to the level they need to be at.”
TBR View:
Beale seems like Rangers’ first choice to be their next manager and rightly so. He has shown real promise at QPR, which is his first-ever job as a manager.
If a move for Beale breaks down, Hasenhuttl would be a really impressive appointment.
The Austrian was sacked by Southampton just 16 days ago. His time there came to a sad end, but he did a great job there with the limited resources he was provided over the last few years.
Hasenhuttl also has an excellent history of developing young players, which makes him a very good choice for a club like Rangers. However, whether he would be willing to go to Ibrox remains to be seen.
