Report: Rangers to miss out on George Edmundson, Portsmouth bid of £600k accepted
Rangers are set to miss out on Oldham Athletic central defender George Edmundson after Portsmouth had a £600,000 bid accepted,
The last offer tabled by the Light Blues was for £500,000. It is reported that the club won’t offer any advance on that.
Edmundson was a standout performer for the Latics last season, earning recognition with a place in the League Two Team of the Season.

Gers boss Steven Gerrard is desperately keen to bolster his defensive ranks this summer. Gareth McAuley will see his deal expire, whilst Joe Worrall has returned to Nottingham Forest following his season-long loan.
Rangers supporters will hope that Gerrard has something else up his sleeve, with Edmunson now looking set to stay in England.
TBR Verdict
This piece of news is a big blow for Rangers and they will now need to seek other options.
Reinforcements at the back are a must for Gerrard this summer. If Rangers are to compete with Celtic a centre-half, in particular, is urgently required.
Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic are a capable partnership but strength in depth would be non-existent.

Edmunson would have been a decent signing for Rangers.
The 21-year-old is uncompromising, strong in the tackle and can play the ball out from the back.
Portsmouth’s pending transfer means is back to the drawing board for Gerrard and for Rangers.
