Kemar Roofe that there were several members of the Rangers squad who wanted Celtic to win the clash that ultimately confirmed that the Scottish Premiership title would be heading to Ibrox this month.
Rangers put themselves on the brink of glory with a 3-0 win earlier this month. The victory prompted the squad to start celebrating despite not officially putting themselves across the line.

The Hoops went into their game with Dundee United the following day knowing that only a victory would further delay Steven Gerrard’s side from being confirmed as champions.
A win for Celtic would have left Rangers needing to only avoid defeat in the Old Firm game a fortnight later. However, John Kennedy’s men could only manage a goalless draw at Tannadice – inspiring further celebrations at the Gers’ training ground.

It was a moment Rangers fans have waited a long time for. But Roofe suggested that there were some within the squad who actually hoped to see the title race go on a little longer.
“It’s very strange because it felt like someone else was winning you the league,” . “A lot of us wanted Celtic to win that game because then we could actually win the league ourselves by playing them the following week. So it was a strange moment.”
It arguably says everything about how dominant Rangers have been this season that they were able to hope that their nearest rivals won at this stage of the campaign.
Of course, there seemed to be next to no chance of the Gers capitulating once they brushed St Mirren aside at Ibrox. So they could afford to dream about the best way to clinch the title.
Winning it at Parkhead may have made that moment even more special and satisfying.
But all that really matters is that Rangers got themselves across the line.
