Rangers fans split over potential Ross McCrorie loan amid interest

Rangers midfielder Ross McCrorie is reportedly being targeted on loan this summer – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter are divided about whether he should stay or go.

The reports that English League One teams Portsmouth and Shrewsbury are both vying to take the 21-year-old on loan for the new campaign.

It is understood that Light Blues manager Steven Gerrard is a big fan of him, but feels it may be more beneficial for him to obtain regular first-team minutes elsewhere.

McCrorie has come rising through the academy ranks at Ibrox and he managed to play 31 senior games during the last campaign across all competitions.

The Scottish defensive midfielder picked up huge experience from games in the Europa League and also completed 90 minutes in one of the league victories over champions Celtic.

He reads the game well for such a young player and is a great defensive rock in front of the back four, but has immense competition for a regular spot in the team next season.

A selection of Rangers supporters on social media are convinced a loan stint away from Ibrox is best for his development if he’s destined to be stuck on the sidelines next year.

Meanwhile, others argue that he’s at the level required to nail down a spot and should stick with the first-team squad.
