Rangers fans slam captain Tavernier after momentum-sapping Dundee draw

James Tavernier was integral to Rangers’ strong start to the season under Steven Gerrard and the Gers were hoping to build on the momentum generated by going top of the league in midweek when they travelled to face basement boys Dundee yesterday.

That was not the case for Gerrard’s men as they put in a disappointing performance and slipped to a 1-1 draw, to allow Celtic to go back atop the Scottish Premiership, with a game in hand to boot.

It was a poor week for Rangers, as their draw with Dundee came on the back of a disappointing defeat to Aberdeen, which was the third time they’d failed to beat the Dons this season.

With a huge Europa League clash against Rapid Vienna coming up in midweek, Gerrard’s men needed to generate momentum, not lose it, and now he will be looking to the leaders within his team to engineer a reaction.
