James Tavernier was integral to Rangers’ strong start to the season under Steven Gerrard and the Gers were hoping to build on the momentum generated by going top of the league in midweek when they travelled to face basement boys Dundee yesterday.
That was not the case for Gerrard’s men as they put in a disappointing performance and slipped to a 1-1 draw, to allow Celtic to go back atop the Scottish Premiership, with a game in hand to boot.
It was a poor week for Rangers, as their draw with Dundee came on the back of a disappointing defeat to Aberdeen, which was the third time they’d failed to beat the Dons this season.
With a huge Europa League clash against Rapid Vienna coming up in midweek, Gerrard’s men needed to generate momentum, not lose it, and now he will be looking to the leaders within his team to engineer a reaction.

But Rangers fans are beginning to turn on Tavernier for not showing enough leadership for a club captain and took to Twitter to show their disdain after yesterday’s draw…
Tavernier is probably the worst right back in the Premiership, he is good at taking pens , ok at going forward but a dreadful defender.

The last few years have been dire but James Tavernier is the worst captain I have ever seen at our club. Spineless performance once again from the 'captain'

Said it so many times.
Tavernier is never a Rangers captain!

Agreed. Tavernier isnt a captain i dont care if Gerrard, Richard Gough and Barry Ferguson announce him captain he isnt one its as simple as that. I dont think Gerrard would been keen on having a goalie as a captain though.

Really bored of Tavernier

Where is the captain? Lad who has a handful of games sent out to explain that performance?
