Rangers fans shower praise on captain Tavernier after two-goal performance

It was something of a late, late show for Rangers as they were forced to wait for the goals in a 4-1 win over Hamilton on Sunday.

On the back of the international break, it looked like Steven Gerrard’s side were rusty as opposed to reinvigorated as a result of the time off.

Despite that, the Gers kept plugging away and secured an impressive 4-1 victory, thanks in no small part to two coolly taken penalties from skipper James Tavernier; after 84 and then 87 minutes when it looked like the game might have been headed for a draw.

That kind of sloppiness and late action is not what Rangers need in a season where they will be hoping to play three times per week.

The return of Europa League action this Thursday provides a sharp reminder of the endurance that will be needed throughout the season.

The desire and perseverance shown to get the result will impress the fans and Steven Gerrard; taking the game right down to the last few minutes before getting the goals will not.
