Glasgow Rangers fans have waxed lyrical about Calvin Bassey’s impressive display at Ibrox on Wednesday night.
The Gers defender started alongside Connor Goldson in the Ibrox back four against St Johnstone.
And Bassey was an absolute rock at the back, helping Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side keep a clean sheet.

Rangers ran out 2-0 winners over the visitors and the Ibrox players all shone.
But as Bassey is just 21, it was great to see him effectively cement a spot in the Rangers starting XI.
The young defender barely put a foot wrong, keeping the opposition attackers at bay throughout.
Bassey’s reading of the game was superb, and his passing was also top class.
Here’s what some Rangers fans said about Bassey on the night:
We all just accepting Bassey is officially a CB now? Boys class.

Bassey is going to be hard to get out that centre half role. He's growing right into it. Looks a natural

Good first half

Tavernier and Bassey have been fantastic at the back.
Morelos was poor but he scored a goal and that’s all that matters.
Bassey is the new Matthaüs

Calvin Bassey at centre back is the one, just an absolute powerhouse bullying strikers. Big Leon not getting back in the team anytime soon

It might be time to look for a new left back idle Bassey keeps up this form at CB. He’s been solid again. Guy is outstanding! What a find!

Calvin Bassey has been brilliant since he's stepped up and again tonight reading the game like a veteran

Goals from Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent saw Rangers’ unbeaten run under Van Bronckhorst continue unabated.
The Gers dominated proceedings from start to finish en route to what turned out to be a routine 2-0 win.
