Rangers fans react on Twitter to Steven Davis’ Old Firm display

A number of Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Steven Davis after the midfielder’s Old Firm display as the Gers won 1-0 at Ibrox on Sunday.

The champions came out on top at the weekend. Filip Helander scored the only goal during the second-half as he headed home from a corner.

A number of Rangers players were excellent against Celtic, particularly in the middle of the park.

Glen Kamara produced some outrageous touches. And Joe Aribo was superb at driving forward into the final third.

But Davis was arguably the standout, particularly in the final moments of the game. The 36-year-old was incredibly influential.

His reading of the game is perhaps better than ever. No Rangers player made a greater number of key passes than the Northern Irishman ().

Meanwhile, he won three tackles. Interestingly, he also won three aerial duels during the contest.

It is remarkable how important Davis remains to Steven Gerrard’s side at this stage of his career.

And that is not down to the Light Blues failing to move forward. Davis is potentially playing some of the best football of his career, it seems.

Plenty of Rangers fans took to social media following the game to laud the midfielder. And several have expressed their concern regarding how they are going to be able to replace Davis when he does call it a day.

Judging by Sunday’s display, it is going to be some time before Rangers have to cross that bridge.
