Rangers fans react on Twitter to Scott Arfield’s Europa League display

A number of Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Scott Arfield’s display as Steven Gerrard’s men booked their place in the knockout stages of the Europa League with a win at Ibrox.

The Gers were made to work incredibly hard for their three points. They were behind twice against Standard Liege. But they were able to battle through what, at times, was a lacklustre display to get the win.

And it was Arfield who got the winner. The Canada international rounded off a brilliant move during the second-half to put Rangers 3-2 up.

The 32-year-old contributed at both ends of the pitch. He was often seen helping the defence out when the visitors got near Allan McGregor’s goal.

And his energy looked to be a key reason for Rangers’s improvement as the contest went on.

Unsurprisingly, many felt that Arfield was the standout performer on another pivotal night for the Gers.

Arfield has come in for criticism in the past for not contributing enough to Gerrard’s side. However, he looks to be a different player this season. He has arguably been one of the club’s most consistent performers.

And he, once again, made a decisive contribution on Thursday as Rangers booked their ticket to the next round.
