A number of Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Leon Balogun’s display as the centre-back made his Gers debut on the opening day of the new season.
Steven Gerrard’s side got off to a winning start at Pittodrie. Ryan Kent’s well-taken goal proved to be the only difference on a day in which the Gers barely needed to get out of second gear.

One of the reasons Rangers were so comfortable was the displays of their centre-backs. Aberdeen failed to register a single shot on target.
Connor Goldson was excellent. But Balogun’s performance seemed to attract the most praise on social media with the 32-year-old only arriving at Ibrox towards the end of last month.

The former Brighton man looked superb on his debut. He made some exciting passes forward, and was not afraid to break out of the backline with the ball at his feet.
Rangers did not manage to settle on a regular centre-back pairing last season for various reasons. But plenty of fans clearly felt that Balogun has the potential to be a mainstay alongside Goldson this term.
They felt that he was hugely impressive. And if his Rangers bow proves to be a sign of what is to come, he could quickly prove to be an absolutely inspired signing for the Light Blues.
Here is how some of the supporters reacted to his display…
Not an impressive performance but never needed to get out of first gear.
Was nervous about that game since it was announced but we strolled through it.
Balogun looks a player.

Big Balogun was a monster the day. Hopefully we can finally get a settled centre half pairing for once!

Very early days, but getting Balogun in for nothing is looking like a good bit of business
