A number of Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to comment on that the Gers sent a scout to watch Lawrence Shankland at the weekend.
Shankland has made a fantastic start to the season following his move to Dundee United in the summer. He has scored 15 goals in 12 appearances, including five in his last two games.
The most recent appearance came against Morton at the weekend. that Rangers, along with Celtic, had a scout at the game. And they would have seen the 24-year-old bag a hat-trick.
It has been an interesting time for Shankland. He was outstanding with Ayr before leaving on a free transfer. He has now been rewarded with a call-up to Scotland’s national team, and could seemingly be on the move again in the coming months.
that he is available for around £2 million. And it seems that the prospect of Rangers signing Shankland has divided the Ibrox faithful on social media.
There are plenty who do not believe that the striker would be a worthwhile addition. Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe have scored 22 goals between them already this term. And Shankland is yet to prove himself in the Scottish Premiership.
However, there are also a number of Rangers fans who believe that he should be on Steven Gerrard’s radar. Defoe’s loan only runs until the summer, and he is now 36.
Meanwhile, questions about Morelos’s future are not going to go away until he has moved on. So plenty have suggested that Rangers should bring him in in January as he could definitely make the step up.

In a few years time yes maybe but stop suggesting that signing him would be a wonder signing when realistically he’d just be in the same boat as Hastie (which people weren’t the biggest fan of)

People don’t understand, Shankland scores goals, not the best footballer just scores goals like a jermaine Defoe and kris Boyd type of player in football you need a goal scorer and I would be a no brainer in a rangers team where you get multiple chances a game to score
