Rangers fans react as Liam Kelly impresses against Steven Gerrard’s side

Liam Kelly has posted on Twitter after stopping his boyhood club Rangers from winning all three points at Fir Park on Sunday afternoon as Motherwell secured a 1-1 draw – and Gers fans have responded to his post.

Kelly, 24, returned to Scotland on loan from English Championship side Queens Park Rangers – where he joined from Livingston after a stunning couple of seasons at the Tony Macaroni Stadium.

He joined Mark Warburton at QPR but struggled to get regular game time, despite his 26 clean sheets in 68 games for Livi. He has now moved to The Well and faced old side Rangers, with whom he failed make a senior outing.

Motherwell secured a point against the Gers, with Devante Cole opening the scoring – only for Cedric Itten to equalise after coming off the bench. Kelly posted on Twitter after the match, in his second Motherwell game.

Itten’s header came largely thanks to a delightful cross from Borna Barisic – and while Rangers have dropped points, it makes no difference to their 21-point lead at the top of the Premiership as Celtic also failed to beat Livingston.

Rangers supporters have responded to Kelly’s post on Twitter. Many applauded the goalkeeper’s performance, and some even suggested that they could see him return to Ibrox in the future.

Some Rangers fans, though, criticised his time wasting.
