Rangers fielded a B-team on Wednesday afternoon as the Gers took on Dundee United’s first team at the Rangers Training Centre – and Gers fans have urged the club to sign Lawrence Shankland, after he scored.
Steven Gerrard’s men faced the newly-promoted Scottish Premiership side at the training ground, with the side consisting mainly of Under-23 player – sprinkled with first-team fringe men such.
Third-choice goalkeeper Andy Firth, new signing Calvin Bassey, Ross McCrorie, Greg Docherty, Jordan Jones and Greg Stewart all started alongside the likes of Nathan Patterson, Josh McPake and Kai Kennedy.
But Dundee United eased to a 4-1 win. Former Rangers man Nicky Clark opened the scoring from the penalty spot, only for McPake to equalise in the 13th minute after an excellent cut-back from Stewart.

Experience and first-team class shone through, though, as Dundee United eased to a comfortable win. Calum Butcher and Dillon Powers scored in an excellent second 45, either side of a Lawrence Shankland strike.
Scotland international Shankland – who has admitted he is a Rangers fan, – has been linked with a move to Rangers since January. Dundee United want £3million, with the Gers interested.
Many reacted to his goal against the Gers by urging him to come to Ibrox in the coming months.
May just have secured his move to Ibrox ! 👍
