Rangers fans react as Katic is named a substitute again

Some Rangers fans weren’t best pleased to see for their game with Kilmarnock.

The Gers are in action against Killie in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup at Ibrox.

The Croatian had to contend with a place on the bench, as Steven Gerrard named Connor Goldson and Joe Worrall as his starting centre-backs.

Katic has had a turbulent first season at Ibrox.

He began brightly alongside Goldson and looked liked he’d go on to become a regular in the side, but Gerrard gradually phased him out in favour of loan star Worrall.

Worrall and Goldson are Gerrard’s go-to pairing for the time being it seems, with Katic filling in for the Nottingham Forest-owned player every so often.

Worrall has made 23 appearances in all competitions this term and Katic has made 24, although lately the Englishman has been far more preferred.

Rangers fans react

Some Rangers supporters were less than impressed with Gerrard rejecting the chance to give Katic some cup game time after he had featured in the previous round:
