Rangers fans react as club reportedly battling rivals for £2m-rated midfielder

Rangers are reportedly looking to knock Neil Lennon aside to sign Rapid Vienna star Dejan Ljubicic this summer as the Scottish giants continue preparations for the 2020-21 campaign – and Gers supporters have reacted on Twitter.

Rangers are one of four clubs interested in signing 22-year-old Ljubicic, who almost moved to the MLS in January to join Chicago Fire. A move, though, fell through due to numerous injury issues.

An Austria Under-21 international, Ljubicic has come through the ranks at Rapid Vienna and clocked up an impressive 100 appearances in all competitions at senior level. 12 of those have even come in the Europa League.

During Steven Gerrard’s first season, Ljubicic scored a Europa League winner against the Gers as Rapid Vienna beat Rangers 1-0 in Austria. Just under two years on, and he could be on his way to Ibrox.

states that Rangers and Celtic are rivalling Southampton and Championship promotion hopefuls Brentford for Ljubicic this summer. It is believed a fee of £2million will be enough to land the midfielder.

Indeed, Ljubicic offers cover in both holding midfield and at centre-back and Rangers fans have reacted on Twitter to the reported news that they are rivalling Celtic for Ljubicic’s signature – and the majority are keen to get a deal done.
